The Pacific Northwest subspecies of the Mule Deer is called the Blacktail Deer. There are two sub-species of black-tailed deer: Columbia black-tailed deer and Sitka black-tailed deer. They are found in the Pacific Northwest, especially in Oregon, Washington, British Columbia and north into the Alaskan panhandle. Black-tailed deer are smaller than either mule deer or white-tailed deer. Mature Columbia black-tailed bucks weigh from 105 to 200 lbs. Sitka blacktails are even smaller.
